How to remove microphone hiss and hum from a recording
Reduce steady microphone hiss, electrical hum and device noise under speech with a free 30-second preview before full processing.

Short answer: steady microphone hiss and electrical hum can often be reduced when speech remains audible. Test the no-cost 30-second preview on the section with the most noise before deciding whether to process the full recording.
Hiss, hum and what the tool can handle
Microphone hiss is a broadband “shhh” sound. Electrical hum is a lower buzzing tone, often related to a cable, interface, charger or nearby power supply. A steady layer under one speaker is the main target here.
The tool is not a music separator, de-reverb system or clipping repair tool. It may not recover a voice that is fully buried, and several people speaking at once can be mistaken for speech that should be preserved.
A safer way to test the recording
- Keep the original file. Do not overwrite the only copy.
- Choose an MP3, WAV, M4A or AAC recording up to 100 MB and 30 minutes.
- Move the preview window to the noisiest 30-second section if the hiss or hum is not at the beginning.
- Use the A/B player to check whether the voice stays natural, not just quieter.
- Process the full recording only if the preview is useful.
The first preview is free within the daily limit. Full-file processing uses a one-minute minimum and a one-time minute pack; there is no subscription or auto-renewal.
Prevent microphone noise in future recordings
- Use a balanced cable and keep power adapters away from audio cables.
- Move the microphone closer and lower the input gain if the room is quiet.
- Monitor with headphones before recording the full interview or lesson.
- Record a few seconds of room tone so you can identify whether the noise is steady.
