Privacy Policy

Remove Background Noise ("we", "us") runs removebackgroundnoise.org. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, and how to reach us. Questions or requests: support@removebackgroundnoise.org.

The short version

• Your video stays on your device. Only its audio is uploaded for AI processing. Exporting a video with the cleaned sound happens in your browser.
• Uploaded audio is deleted within 24 hours at the latest, and within 1 hour if you never confirm a full-file task.
• Cleaned audio is kept for 24 hours. You can delete it sooner.
• We do not use your recordings to train AI models and we do not sell your data.
• We use no advertising cookies and no ad trackers.

What we collect

• Audio you upload (the first 30 seconds for the free preview, the full audio track for a paid task). Used to run noise reduction. See "How long we keep audio" below.
• Cleaned audio. Used so you can download it. Kept up to 24 hours, or until you delete it.
• Email address and name (from sign-up or Google sign-in). Used to run your account and send service emails. Kept until you ask us to delete the account.
• Orders, minute balance and ledger. Used for payments, tax, support and fraud checks. They contain no audio. Kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
• File facts: duration, size, format and a SHA-256 fingerprint of the original file. Used to price the task, match your video for export and prevent duplicates. The fingerprint cannot be turned back into audio. Kept with the task record.
• A signed browser cookie and a shortened, hashed network address. Used to keep the free-preview allowance fair and to limit abuse. The address is not stored in readable form. Kept in daily counters, for a short time.
• Technical logs: time, route, status and error codes. Used to keep the service running and fix faults. We do not log audio, signed links, keys or full file names. Kept for a limited period.

We do not ask for special categories of data, and we do not analyse the content of your recordings beyond the noise-reduction processing you request.

How long we keep audio

• Original video or picture: never uploaded; read on your device only.
• Free preview (first 30 seconds): uploaded when you press "Create free AI preview". The input is removed after processing; the preview result is kept up to 24 hours.
• Full audio track (paid task): uploaded after you sign in and choose the full file, before you confirm. Nothing is processed and nothing is charged until you confirm. Unconfirmed audio is kept up to 1 hour. Confirmed audio is removed when the task ends, and in any case within 24 hours of upload.
• Cleaned audio: stored privately for download, up to 24 hours from when it is saved.

Deleting your files removes our copies and links. It does not refund minutes already used and does not change your payment or minute records.

Who processes your data

We use a small number of providers. Each receives only what it needs.

• Replicate, Inc. runs the noise-reduction model on your audio through its API. Replicate's documentation says API inputs, outputs, files and logs are removed automatically after about an hour by default; its own terms and policy apply to that processing. We do not promise instant deletion on the provider's side.
• Cloudflare hosts the site and stores your audio in a private bucket. Files are reachable only through short-lived signed links.
• Stripe (or the payment processor shown at checkout) takes payments. We receive the order status and amount, never your full card number.
• Google, if you choose "Sign in with Google", tells us your email address and name.

We do not share your recordings with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

International transfers

Our providers operate in several countries, including the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on the transfer mechanisms our providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses.

Cookies

• Essential: a signed cookie that keeps a visitor's free-preview allowance and results with the same browser; session cookies for sign-in; a language preference cookie.
• Campaign source: if you arrive through a link with campaign tags, we keep the tags and the referring site in a first-party cookie for 30 days to learn which links bring visitors. It is not shared with third parties.
• We use no advertising cookies. If we add analytics, we will list them here and ask first where the law requires it.

Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to close your account. Delete cleaned audio yourself from the task page. For anything else, email support@removebackgroundnoise.org from the address on your account; we answer within 30 days. If you think we have mishandled your data, you can also complain to your local data-protection authority.

Security

Audio travels over HTTPS, is stored in a private bucket, and is reachable only through short-lived signed links. Payment details never touch our servers. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.

Children

The service is not meant for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell signed-in users by email or on the site.
